Early Week Sports Betting - Wimbledon, PGA Golf, NASCAR, MLB, Series Spotlight, NBA Summer League
It's Monday and the start of a new sports betting week. We here at SBI hope you had a great weekend - it was fabulous weather and even better sports betting in the Chicagoland area, where SBI's headquarters are. Today, Aces High and Hardways Mike are back on the podcast to help you navigate the sports betting landscape, starting with the weekend's tennis action. Both the Women's and Men's Wimbledon tournaments finished over the weekend. In the Women's Singles, Markéta Vondroušová defeated Ons Jabeur 6-4, 6-4 to become the first-ever unranked Women's Singles Wimbledon Champion. In the Men's, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic battled it out for the full five sets and an impressive 46 games. In the end, Alcaraz took the fifth and final set, and the 20-year old won his first Wimbledon (though likely not his last). An impressive couple of matches all around.
Following that, Mike gives a recap of the Genesis Scottish Open, which saw Rory McIlroy holding off a number of competitors for another PGA Tour win for him this year. One stroke was all Rory needed to close out round four and the tournament. Mike also recaps the Crayon 301, this past weekend's NASCAR Cup Series event, before Kyle and Mike talk about the results of last week's Series Spotlight, the White Sox and the Braves. The White Sox took two of the three series games from the Braves, something that shocked even the staunchest Chicago believers. Kyle talked about the Braves' roster and Atlanta bullpen, noting it could be an issue down the stretch.
The guys next get into the week's MLB action, starting with today's games. They go through a number of MLB matches, looking at the lines, pitching matchups and more. The guys use the SBI MLB Today page for info and insight into the matchups, and continue with this week's Series Spotlight: the Tampa Bay Rays vs. the Texas Rangers. Game one of the Rays/Rangers three-game series starts tonight. Few expected both the Rays and the Rangers to be leading their respective divisions (the Rays the AL East and the Rangers the AL West) at this point in the season. Kyle and Mike look hard at the moneyline, run line, total and line movement, while also digging into the players and especially the pitching matchup, as both teams are trotting out their ace pitcher tonight. The guys also take a look at some player props, including the starting pitchers' strikeouts.
Mike closes out the podcast by looking at the NBA 2K24 Summer League final between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Houston Rockets. It's been another great NBA Summer League tournament; we're sad to see it go. But there are plenty of sports left this year, and Kyle and Mike finish by talking about The Open Championship this week, another of the four PGA Majors, and Kyle brings up cricket, a sport yet to be mentioned on this podcast.
